SANTO DOMINGO– The General Union of Dominican Workers supported the choice of Mr. Miguel D Camps as the new Minister of Labor, in the new government of Mr. Luis Abinader.
Casimiro Laurencio Manzanillo, president of the union entity, said that the president-elect was not mistaken in that designation, since Mr. Dcamps is a professional man and very prepared in labor matters.
“I think that Mr. Luis Abinader was not wrong in choosing Mr. Dcamps to serve in the Ministry of Labor, and we hope to maintain a good relationship,” said the union leader.
He hopes that DCamps will meet with all the trade union centers in the country, to explain his work program.
“I understand that Mr. Dcamps must hold a meeting with all the trade union centers in the country, without exception, where we will discuss plans to follow for the benefit of the national labor movement.”
He recalled that whoever held the post until August 16 never met with all union representatives, but was very exclusive.
He pointed out that this only met with three union centers, leaving aside the others that also defend the interests of the workers.
“Then the Boards of directors of the state institutions were distributed, leaving out the others, so I understand that this cannot continue to happen,” he said.
Casimiro Laurencio Manzanillo, President of the UGTD suggested to the new Minister of Labor, to file his good offices so that Law 87-01 created by the Dominican Institute of Social Security is complied with, in the face of the collapse of the National Health System.
