The affirmations that the municipal mayoral candidates will make reminds us of what Pitaco de Methylene expressed: “Do not predict what you want to do, because if you do not succeed you will be mocked.” “Don’t speak ill of a friend, not even an enemy.” “It is smart people to foresee difficult things before they happen so they don’t happen.” When asked Croesus, what is the greatest power? He answered: “The one with the painted table”, referring to the Law.
We wonder who has the plan to make the Dominican family happy?
When personal interests prevail, the people do not progress due to the absence of the vision to satisfy the needs of the citizens.
The millionaires of every four years remind us of the fragment of the poem Economía de Salón. “But their own citizens, with acts of madness, want to destroy this great city to seek its benefits, and the unjust greed of the chiefs of the people, who await numerous pains that they suffer from their great abuses.”
Thanks to technological advances we realize that the world does not live within a just order. I’m not kidding myself. It is in constant armamentism. Death is in the minds of the powers and this will have no end. Man continues as always with his back to the Universal Law. TO LOVE.
In this period of political campaign, like the previous ones, we see the wolves of ambition and greed. The countless political millionaires is the portrait of the hypocritical morality of men, not men. Certainly the economy grows, but in an unequal way. The long journey has not taught that if the powerful give up greed, poverty would actually decrease.
I say them with Juan Luis Lorda. “You have to ask yourself how much money is necessary to live and also what other things, besides earning money, matter in this life. It would be a vicious circle to live to earn money and to earn money just to live.
Money, of course, is not the first. It would be absurd to dedicate life to it, knowing that life itself is a limited good. Money is an instrument. You have to know what you want, you have to know how much you need, you have to know what it costs. With these data we can put limits on greed.
Sensible but glued to the ground men end up making the tremendous mistake of thinking that dedicating yourself to making money is the only serious thing you can do in life. It is curious, but as they mature, that conviction takes strength in their spirit. It is as if the other things in life, of which much was expected at other times (friendship, love, travel, hobbies, etc.) were fading over time and only money was presented as a solid value. and unwavering.
Money does not provide the peace of soul, nor the strength of friendship, nor the warmth of love, nor the small delights of a family life, when it becomes the center of one’s existence. The bad thing is not the money, but the disorder with which one loves. Vanity, caprice, luxury, frivolity and corruption are within the reach of almost all fortunes.
The moral value of wealth and who has it depends on the end for which it is used, because money is only a means. The key to wealth is the service you provide.
Dear reader, our wealth is not having wealth: I am surrounded by happiness. The Universal Law: The love that delivers everything good in family life. Keep good: Health-joy. The author is retired vice admiral of the Dominican Navy.
