SANTO DOMINGO.-The president of the People’s Force, Leonel Fernández, denounced that some businessmen are intimidated by the government so that they do not make contributions to that political organization and their candidacy.
“That is part of the undemocratic conduct that I question where some businessmen are persecuted, harassed or intimidated in fiscal terms so that they do not contribute to our candidacy and they simply prevail on the political stage,” said Fernández.
He added that since its inception the People’s Force had been persecuted and judicially harassed its right to exist as a political organization, questioning its name, logo and colors, however, Fernández argued that despite these adversities, that party has advanced and sworn leaders who have abandoned to the PLD and other organizations.
When interviewed in the morning radio program Cuenta Claras, Fernández revealed that currently the People’s Force has half a million young people registered, indicating that the party will be essentially made up of young people who need participation in politics.
“The People’s Force is a party that only has seven months, however, it has already shown muscles, it is a party that has institutional representation and that allowed other parties in alliance to increase their representation of mayors and regidurías. It is an expanding party without resources, “said the former president.
Regarding the possibilities of correcting his differences with the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) in the event of a possible second electoral round, he understands that there is no way to resolve the differences in the 30 days remaining for the elections.
The People’s Force presidential candidate added that he will not be able to support the PLD candidate, Gonzalo Castillo, for understanding that he is an “illegitimate candidate” and imposed by force.
