SANTO DOMINGO.- The judges of the Second Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) suspended this virtual hearing against Yamil Abreu Navarro this afternoon where his extradition to the United States would be known and called for Friday June 19 at 10: 00 in the morning.
Abreu Navarro, former director of the Las Lagunas municipal district in Azua, is accused of running an international drug trafficking network and having ties to the Sinaloa cartel.
Fredy Castillo, attorney for the defendant, asked the court to postpone the hearing of the request for extradition against his client, in order to provide them with all the documents of the petition made by the United States and the prosecution file.
The lawyer asked to postpone the hearing so that he could also speak to his represented Yamil Abreu Navarro, since he has not been able to converse.
The court is made up of judges Fran Soto, Francisco Jerez, María Garabito, Danilsa Acosta and Francisco Ortega.
While the Public Ministry was represented by Deputy Attorney Andrés Chalas, while attorney Analdís Alcántara represents the State of the United States.
