The candidate for deputy of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) for the Circumscription number 1 in the United States, Yomare Polanco, denounced that suitcases with the null votes, in several states, of the aforementioned demarcation were violated, reason why the recount to be carried out With the authorization of the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) it could not be carried out this Friday as it should have been.
Polanco made the complaint this Friday to the Hispanic TV channel in NY “Canal América”.
According to act 012 – 2020 issued by the Directorate of Dominican Voting Abroad, some 45 boxes, 44 of ballots and materials plus one of minutes, were found open and out of their suitcases, preventing the review from being carried out under the established protocol , by judgment of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) 793-2020 issued last Thursday.
In this sense, “the PLD candidate said he was concerned, however, he reiterated his confidence in the electoral authorities to carry out the review process after which he can be proclaimed the winner of the third deputation,” he said.
In accordance with the provisions of the minutes, the boxes were delivered to the Electoral Logistics Coordination Office Abroad (OCLEE) and their review was postponed for this Saturday, August 1 in the morning. Delegates from political parties are present.
It is recalled that, after the presidential and congressional elections, Polanco had requested that the TSE review some 5,667 invalid votes corresponding to his candidacy in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington DC, but the OCLEE in those places had refused.
“Those null votes represent more than five thousand voters who voted for me and were denied their constitutional right and me as a candidate, the right to represent them,” Polanco said on that occasion.
