“Rest assured, no one will go unpunished if they have misappropriated the people’s money,” said the head of state in an address to the country from the National Palace, on the occasion of his first month of assuming power.
It meant that “For this reason, we designate an independent Public Ministry, whose attorney must act autonomously and guided by the Constitution and the laws of the Republic. “This constitutes a momentous change in our history,” he stressed.
“Today, just a month ago, I was sworn in as President of the Republic. And today, I want to speak to you, Dominican men and women. It is you who chose me.
It is you who voted for a change. It is you with whom we are going to transform this country, “insisted the president, who immediately presented a report on his main achievements, especially to face the COVID19 pandemic and reactivate the national productive sectors that were paralyzed by it.
He stressed that this Tuesday he presented his affidavit of assets, after noting “that it is the first time in history that it is done in a detailed and transparent way.”
Citing his early management achievements, Abinader highlighted the deployment of an intense reform agenda to make the promised change a reality.
He explained that the first thing was to implement urgent actions against COVID-19, which allowed the inclusion of two million Dominicans in the National Health Service, so that from this year there will be universal and free coverage for all citizens .
For President Abinader, “the plan is the most ambitious that any government has ever implemented within the health sector and in the history of our country.”
He affirmed that this action plan initiated to contain the expansion of COVID-19 includes: the massive performance of PCR tests, the hiring of 1,000 doctors who were unemployed, the authorization of more public laboratories, the authorization of private laboratories to carry out more tests. , increase in the availability of beds, the inclusion and participation of municipalities and social organizations in the management of the crisis.

In this sense, he highlighted the allocation of 40 billion pesos so that no young person in the Dominican Republic loses a single opportunity in their future, as well as the implementation of new plans for public education, both in material resources and in education. teacher training and capacity.
He expressed that the Government has adapted quickly to the circumstances imposed by the crisis, because when he came to power there was no planned plan.
He said that special resources were also assigned to the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) to guarantee its students virtual education and ensure their new semester.
He also highlighted the investment of 420 million pesos for the tourism sector to recover, since it is an engine in the creation of jobs for the benefit of the country’s economy.
In the infrastructure sector, President Abinader cited planning to start the construction of the Ámbar highway that runs from Santiago to Puerto Plata and turn the port of Manzanillo into a large logistics operations center, as well as a power generator to create thousands of of jobs.
The president also referred to the project to build 3,000 hotel rooms in the tourist area of Pedernales, always respecting the environment.
He said that to boost the field, 5 billion in credits for producers were placed through the Agricultural Bank, at a zero rate.
“The economic reactivation and the generation of jobs require us to mobilize all the investment instruments that are within our reach,” said the president.
He argued that change “is everyone’s task, it is a shared purpose and we all make the best team.
